Year 8 pupils from Rookwood School interviewed Charlie Higson, author of the Young James Bond series. Charlie was a guest speaker at the Guardian Newsroom's Reading For Pleasure Conference.

Sixth form pupils from Chalfonts Community College present the news. They report and discuss stories on the environment and new regulations on childhood medicines. They also look at a proposed study into abuse of the elderly within hospitals and care homes and a Church of Scotland's clergyman's suggestion that social care funding may be targeting the elderly at the expense of the young. Year 6 pupils from Churchfields School in Woodford, who were making a science newspaper, interviewed Ian Sample, science correspondent for the Guardian. They asked him how he got into journalism, what makes a good science story, what was his toughest deadline and what tips he would give students who want to get into journalism. World Book Day events at The Newsroom
As part of World Book Week children's authors Mark Walden (H.I.V.E. series) and Joe Craig (Jimmy Coates series) held a heroes and villains debate with schools at the Newsroom. Three Year 5 students from Linton Mead Primary School interviewed the authors after the debate. They ask Mark and Joe about their books, why they became writers, how they get their ideas, favourite characters and what makes a good story. You can hear their podcast here.
Authors Betty B Birney (Adventure according to Humphrey) and Sue Bentley (Magic Kitten: A very Special Friend), two of the World Book Day £1 authors, took part in story telling sessions with Year 2 pupils.

On 31 January 2008, six year 11 students from Mill Hill County High School visited the Newsroom. They researched, planned, and produced a podcast presenting that day's news. They discussed police breaking an immigration scam, how to make money on YouTube, celebrity news, Fabio Capello's first squad for England and the closing of the football transfer window. Two year 12 students were able to interview Tim Radford, former science editor of the Guardian. They talked to Tim about how he became interested in science, the differences between reporting and editing, global warming and whether the arts and science complement each other. History of Medicine Podcast - Rickmansworth School
Pupils from Rickmansworth School scripted and produced their own podcast during one of our History of Medicine workshops. These workshops use archive material relating to medical history and are run in partnership with the Wellcome Trust Library. The podcast re-enacts one of Robert Liston's speedy operations, outlines the confession of grave robbers and finishes with an interview with John Snow highlighting his theories on the spread of cholera.
