What’s the job?

Video Producer. Full-time, Tuesday - Saturday (6 months fixed-term contract)

Where do I work?

The Observer newsroom, London (22 Berners Street) plus some flexibility to work remotely 1 day per week.

What are we for?

The Observer’s promise is in the name. The Observer bears witness; the best of journalism being curious minds at work. What’s my personal contribution?

You will be an important part of the Observer’s new video team, delivering engaging content for the Observer website and social media platforms. This will include explainers and features to showcase the best of the Observer’s journalism, ranging from food and the arts to politics and investigations. You will work collaboratively with reporters, graphic designers and the social media team to produce eye-catching video storytelling.

What are my responsibilities & accountabilities?

Key responsibilities include:

  • Edit video content using Premiere Pro
  • Generate creative ideas for treatments of stories
  • Competent camera operation, eg for reporter pieces to camera, using mirrorless/DSLR cameras
  • Co-ordinate effectively between different departments
  • Basic knowledge of graphics design using After Effects would be an advantage
