Spring loaded: men’s wardrobe updates

Tiny bags, big personality jumpers and more colour than a Hockney art show: new-season staples for a wardrobe refresh

The bold knit
At Celine’s SS26 show, creative director Michael Rider showed a sunshine yellow trophy sweater, and the high street has followed suit: bold motifs and hot colours are everywhere.

The blue jean
When Jonathan Anderson made his creative director debut at Dior, 10 looks in his SS26 menswear collection featured a light blue jean, some even had the occasional rip or tear. Take note from celebrities like Paul Mescal and style yours with a white T-shirt and a pair of loafers.

The double-breasted blazer
Tailoring has seen off sportswear this season, particularly at Bottega Veneta, where pinstripe fabrics where used to construct smart Miami Vice-style suits. Wear them with a contrast colour shirt and, most importantly, a tie.

The mini bag
British designer Paul Smith showed cross-body bags at his SS26 show in Milan, and the actors Jacob Elordi and Timothée Chalamet have been seen wearing them. Still stuffing things in your pockets?

The leather jacket (or suede)
Miu Miu and Prada’s SS26 collections included retro-cut leather and suede jackets, now that’s the shape du jour. Search through vintage shops for the perfect piece.
