Lord of the Flies

(BBC One)

Jack Thorne (Help; Adolescence) adapts the disquieting 1954 novel by William Golding. Young boys stranded on an uninhabited island descend into power-hungry savagery.

First Day on Earth

(BBC One)

In her first outing as writer, creator and star since 2020’s trailblazing I May Destroy You, Michaela Coel plays a novelist relocating to Ghana, where she finds duplicity and danger.

Half Man

(BBC One)

After the awards success of 2024’s Baby Reindeer, Richard Gadd writes and stars with Jamie Bell in a decades-spanning drama about a reunion of two brothers that spirals into violence.

How to Get to Heaven  from Belfast (Netflix)

A new comedy thriller from Derry Girls creator Lisa McGee. Three women (Roisin Gallagher, Sinéad Keenan and Caoilfhionn Dunne) embark on an Irish odyssey after the death of a friend.

(BBC One)

A series reboot of the seminal 1984 film chronicling the devastating aftermath of a nuclear attack on Sheffield. Will it traumatise a nation again 42 years on?

Gomorrah: The Origins

(Sky Atlantic)

The long-awaited prequel to the acclaimed mafia drama. In 70s Naples, the ambitious young Pietro Savastano (Luca Lubrano) is drawn into a pitiless criminal underworld.

Dear England

An adaptation of Sherwood creator James Graham’s Olivier-winning play about Gareth Southgate (Joseph Fiennes) taking on the England football team.

California Avenue

(BBC One)

From Hugo Blick (The English), an off-centre drama about a young mother (Erin Doherty) hiding out with her daughter in a 1970s British caravan park. Bill Nighy and Helena Bonham Carter co-star.
