For weeks, Nigel Farage has been at pains to say that the £5m gift he received from Reform donor and Thailand-based billionaire Christopher Harborne was to cover his private security. Farage said yesterday that it was a “reward” for campaigning for Brexit. The Reform leader is under formal investigation by parliament’s standard watchdog over an alleged “failure to declare an interest”. A Reform spokesperson said that the “offer and purchase process for the property commenced before the gift”. It is one of four houses owned by Farage.
