Arket have signed up chef and artist Laila Gohar, best known for co-founding tableware universe Gohar World, to design a ready-to-wear collection. Launching at Milan Design Week with a whimsical vegetable carousel public installation, the collaboration spans 27 pieces including a gauzy apron, monogram-embroidered canvas set and crochet and beaded accessories. All designed to capture Gohar’s unique style: “I don’t believe in saving things for an occasion – I cook in my nicest clothes” she says.

Vivienne Westwood brings back the classic George Cox creeper, marking the 75th anniversary of the famous footwear with a new, limited-edition collection. London-based designer Priya Ahluwalia’s latest collection for Puma references her Indian-Nigerian heritage and takes inspiration from African football culture. The collection celebrates the passion and pride of football supporters across Africa and sport’s ability to bring communities together across borders. Key pieces include an all-over print T7 tracksuit, a textured knit used on an aysmetric vest top and mini skirt, as well as Puma V-S1 trainers in vibrant pan-African colours.

Black echoes
Last week saw the opening of the V&A East museum, headed up by director Gus Casely-Hayford. The cultural hub and exhibition space features two permanent galleries and a temporary gallery exhibition space across five floors. The museum’s debut exhibition, The Music is Black: A British Story, curated by Jacqueline Springer, traces the global legacy of British-born Black music genres, including lovers rock, jungle, drum & bass, trip hop, UK garage and grime, telling the stories of early pioneers and contemporary stars through objects, style and imagery.
