We’re booking more nights at the inn

The appetite for British pubs with bedrooms is only getting bigger

It’s a blockbuster year for the Beckford Group with four openings in 2026. Its trio of founders are often credited with redefining the modern pub-with-rooms. “I believe that good hospitality and charm trumps all other aspects of the business,” says founder Charlie Luxton, who has written his own Waiter’s Handbook. Also new for 2026: the latest Cotswolds stay from the Double Red Duke team, and an inaugural overnighter from the Gladwin brothers whose family-run London restaurants are fed by their Sussex farm.

Corsham House, Corsham, Wiltshire Beckford’s bottle-shop-meets-pub is set to reinvigorate the high street in Corsham this June. Made for locals as much as sleepovers, the Tasting Room will sell the team’s favourite wines from its original Bath bottle shop (corshamhouse.com).

The Wild Duck, Ewen, CotswoldsThe Pearmans have found a winning formula at the Double Red Duke and the Mason’s Arms in Clanfield. Opening later this month is this Grade-II listed gardener’s cottage with ales from Stroud brewery Uley and a menu by former River Café chef James Adams (countrycreatures.com).

The Black Horse, Amberley, West Sussex When the Shed opened in Notting Hill in 2012, it was the start of traceable farm-to-table dining in the city. Now the Gladwin brothers are following up their first London boozer, the Pig’s Ear in Chelsea, with bedrooms above their actual local this spring. (amberleyblackhorse.co.uk).
