Dua Lipa has turned to her fanbase to support her case in a $15m lawsuit against Samsung. She has accused the electronics company of trying to “improperly capitalise” on her success by using her image on packaging for its televisions. The legal case claims that the photo in question, which partly appears at the top of a mocked-up TV screen, was taken during a 2024 performance and copyrighted to the pop star. Evidence for Lipa’s pulling power comes from her fans, who previously christened the model as the “Dua Lipa TV box”. One Instagram user, the lawsuit notes, said they would “get that TV just because Dua is on it”. Lipa is no stranger to lawsuits. She has won two copyright cases over her song Levitating and is fighting a third.
