In a direct challenge to Apple, Intel and Qualcomm, Nvidia has unveiled chips that will integrate advanced AI functions into laptops and desktops. Nvidia has become the most valuable company in the world on the back of selling chips to data centres, but this push into personal computing marks a new frontier. Its RTX Spark chip, which will be launched this year, is designed to allow agents to navigate PCs autonomously, removing the need for mouse and keyboard interactions. Jensen Huang, the Nvidia CEO, said the chip would “reinvent the PC”. For now it would only do so for those requiring top of the range models. The chip will be included in a new line of Windows PCs, which are likely to command a very high price tag.
