Israel says it will hold talks with Lebanon after launching a series of attacks on the country. Representatives could meet in Washington next week. Tel Aviv hit 100 targets in residential neighbourhoods of Beirut over a ten-minute period on Wednesday. More than 300 people were killed, drawing widespread condemnation from international leaders. Benjamin Netanyahu claims Israel’s war with Hezbollah is not included in the Iran ceasefire, even though Pakistan’s prime minister made clear on Tuesday that the truce applied “everywhere including Lebanon”. Trump said a day later that the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah was “not included in the deal”. If this continues to be his position, the fragile ceasefire is not long for this world.
