The surge in fossil fuel prices caused by the war in Iran has been a disaster for many industries, but a boon for green tech. Sales of used EVs have risen by 17% in the US compared to the previous quarter. In the UK, Octopus Energy has reported a 50% increase in solar panel sales. Enquiries into heat pumps and EV chargers are also up. It helps that green tech has become much more affordable in recent years. The price gap between used EVs and their combustion-engine counterparts has fallen from nearly $4,923 to $1,334 in the US over the past year. Meanwhile the global price of solar panels has fallen by 90% in a decade.
