US authorities have accused the commander of an Iraqi militia of masterminding 18 terrorist attacks in the UK, Europe and Canada since the beginning of the war in Iran. Mohammad Baqer Saad Dawood al-Saadi, who is allegedly part of Kataib Hezbollah, which has links to Tehran, has been accused of organising an explosion at a synagogue in Belgium on 9 March, a shooting at the US consulate in Toronto a day later, and the stabbing of two Jewish men in north London on 29 April. These allegations were part of a complaint unsealed on Friday in a federal court in Manhattan. Al-Saadi is also accused of directing an undercover agent to carry out terrorist attacks in New York and Los Angeles. Through his lawyer, he said that he was a political prisoner and a prisoner of war.
