The head of the Police Federation has been arrested on suspicion of fraud, along with two other people connected to the body. Mukund Krishna is being held after City of London police carried out raids at the organisation’s headquarters in Surrey. Few other details are publicly available. The Police Federation represents 145,000 officers in England and Wales, acting as a de facto union that represents them over pay and provides legal support if they are accused of misconduct. Krishna received a £701,000 pay packet last year, more than twice the salary of the head of the Met Police and over four times that of Keir Starmer. He recently faced calls to resign over accusations that he has stifled free speech in the organisation.
