Nina Kuryata is a Ukraine and defence editor of The Observer, covering defence and security issues in the UK, Europe and beyond, as well as Russia's war in Ukraine and European politics. Before joining Tortoise, Nina was the Head of the BBC Ukrainian service and worked as an independent media consultant in Ukraine and other Eastern Partnership countries. Holding degrees in Microbiology (PhD) and Journalism (MA), Nina is also a media expert and a Ukrainian writer.
